So Neglected!!!

My terribly neglected blog... Im such a slack blogger!!

Here is a From our blog to yours post or two for Sweet Shoppe Designs!

From Our Blog to Yours 9/18/08

You Could Not Be a Vampire

Sorry, but you're not just cut out for flesh eating, turning into a bat, and living forever.

But that's okay. The sight of blood turns your stomach... without even thinking of drinking it.

And while you definitely would never be a vampire, you're exactly the type of frail prey Dracula wannabe's crave.

Maybe it's time to arm yourself with a cross and some nasty garlic breath!

What you would like best about being a vampire: The raw power (though you wouldn't admit it to anyone)

What you would like least about being a vampire: The whole killing thing

From Our Blog To Yours - 9/11

You Are 64% Real

You know who you are, and you're pretty darn comfortable with yourself.

Like everyone, you struggle with the parts of yourself that aren't so great...

But you're good at accepting who you are and not dwelling on your faults.

As a result, you're confident, optimistic, and very real.

You Were the Arty Kid
Whether you were a drama freak or an emo poet, you definitely were expressive and unique.

Im a huge fan of Gwen, going back to when I was 14 years old and was completely obsessed with No Doubt. I never got to see them preform as a group Live and told my self that I would definately go and see Gwen if she ever came to Australia. Well she did and I was there, I got to rock out to my favourite singer Front Row centre stage. It was an amazing experience and every time I look at this LO I remember exactly how it felt to be there.

Another From Our Blog to Yours challenge for Sweet Shoppe Designs... Here!

I found this quiz interesting because of the fact that im Aussie, I just figured my accent would be less American and more Aussie... but here goes.

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Chances are, if you are from New York City (and not those other places) people would probably be able to tell if they actually heard you speak.

FOB2Y - Sweet Shoppe Designs

From Our Blog to Yours 7.17.08

We were asked to write about our summer jobs or adventures. Well I was a very boring teen and didnt ever have adventures, well nothing worth writing about anyways. I did used to work for my Auntie and Uncle in the school holidays. They used to own a photo shop, and I used to go in and she's teach me how to develop photo's (films) and I sometimes even got to serve customers. It was allot of fun and I even went through a stage where I thought I would work in a photo lab when I grew up. I never did end up working in one though.

Favourite Summer Activity!

Now thats its nice and frosty here in Australia, it warmed me up thinking of my favourite summer activity for the From Our Blog 2 Yours challenge over at SSD.

My favourite summer activity would have to be the mid morning summer playdates with Rylee's best friend Molly. Playing under the sprinklers, eating ice cream and drinks that cool the insides while being shaded by the big ole tree in the front yard truly does say summer to me.
And when it gets too hot during the day me and Rylee pile on to my comfy bed and watch movies, as the main bedroom is the only one in the house with a split system air conditioner.

Just how nerdy are you?

I never considered myself a nerd, Im glad my test proved that.

This was for the From Our Blog to Yours Challenge Thursday 5th.

I am nerdier than 5% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to find out!

It says:

94% scored higher (more nerdy),
1% scored the same, and
5% scored lower (less nerdy).

What does this mean? Your nerdiness is:

Definitely not nerdy, you are probably cool.

Well then, there you go.

On a Roll!

Ive really been on a roll the last couple of days and have a handfull of new layouts as a result. Ive really been getting into the challenges over at Sweet Shoppe Designs, such a marvellous way to inspire my creativity.

Dream Vacation

For the From Our Blog to Yours on Sweet Shoppe Designs, we were asked to blog about our dream vacation.

I would love to go to Fiji. Rent a little hut on the beach, watch the sun set over the waves, go scuba diving, Fall asleep listening to the ocean and sit on the beach drinking a cocktail.

Now thats my idea of a vacation.

A New Goal!

So I have decided that I would like to co-dedicate (is that even a word?) this blog to my digital scrapbooking. Im still relitively new at the whole thing, but have found a couple of great sites with challenges which are perfect for inspiring me to go to new lengths with my scrapping.

Here are a couple of my newer LO's.

Mums choc chip biscuit recipe!

I had an interesting email today from a friend about a 'Friends Recipe Exchange' so I typed up this recipe and sent it allong to the lady whose name was on the top of the list. I thought that while it was there I might as well copy and paste it here so that more people can give it a go if desired.

Here's my mums recipe for her choc chip biscuits, I grew up on these biscuits so I think they are the best.

2 cups Plain Flour
1/2 cup sugar, just the regular kind will do
150g butter or margarine, room temp
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp bicarb soda
1/2 cup milk
1 small packet of nestle dark choc chips

Rub the butter into the dry ingredients till combined, add milk a little at a time. You may not need all the milk, or you may need a little more, just judge it for yourself. The mix should be a little sticky, but not too wet and all the dry ingredients are combined. Add the choc chips last, because you don't want to over mix with them in there. Mix gently and they are ready to bake.

Place rough balls of the dough on a lined baking tray, the main appeal of this biscuit is that it doesn't take allot of work and they look home made, so just spoon full's of the mixture on a tray is fine. Roughly press the tops of the biscuits with a fork, not too flat because they are nice when they are thick and cakey.

Bake in a moderate oven, 160 - 180 for approx 10 minutes. They will be ready when the bottoms are nicely browned and the tops are slightly golden. Please note they are not crispy biscuits, they are supposed to be thick and cake like.

Make sure to eat when they are warm and the choc chips are still melted in the middle with a large glass of cold milk!!!

Enjoy

I think we might risk it anyways. Hey, you only live once right?

Digital Scrapbooking - The Beach

When I was pregnant with my daughter (3 years ago) I started scrapbooking. When she was a baby I really got into it and did a couple of albums, but as she got older and started making me more busy (and started wanting to help out) I stopped doing it because it just got too hard.

About 6 months ago I decided to take up Digital Scrapbooking, because for Christmas last year I decided that it would be nice to give everyone a scrapbook and digi scrapping would make things easier for me. Needless to say I got hooked, it was so easy and with the use of some nice templates and some digital scrapbooking kits I was able to make some really nice layouts.

Here is one that is one of my favourites. The pictures were taken Christmas of 2006 when we went to see family who live on the coast. It was Rylee's first trip to the beach.

Its a 2 page layout.

The text says: "You loved your first trip to the beach. You especially loved venturing to the waters edge with grandad, its a pity it was a bit windy and a bit too cold to go for a swim"

Like a snail.

For about a week now my internet connection has been like a snail, taking 5 minutes to load a page, and for a fast ADSL connection that is BAD. So I went into major fix-it mode, downloading 5 different programs to fix spyware, adware, malware etc, spending days trying to fix the problem with no luck.

So yesterday I called my ISP to find out if there was a problem on their end. Well maybe this is something I should have done first, because they inform me that I have gone over my download limit and they are shaping off the speed. Basically slowed the speed right down until it resets next billing month, which luckily is tomorrow. However this also means that we used over 15GB of downloads this month *eeek*. They did however inform me that my speed is back up to full speed in off peak hours, between 1am and 9 am, but I like my sleep so that wont be happening.

Oh the money these people make of us!! We just decided to boost out download limit and as a result will be paying an extra $20 a month!

A welcome!

So much happens in the life of a mum, children grow so quickly, so I decided to take record of the things that happen by way of a blog. So welcome to my blog!
My name is Brooke, Im am a 25 year old Australian mummy to a very cheeky little Rylee Paige, who is 2 going on 22. Life tends to get busy, especially when your chasing around a 2 year old, so this will be a nice way to sit back and reflect.

I hope you enjoy it here.
